The Jr. Pee Wee football team went on a whirlwind tour after claiming their 2nd Pop Warner Div II Super Bowl in 7 years.  The team was selected as grand marshals for the afternoon parade in Disney World. The team proudly marched around the park behind the Pop Warner banner. The Blue Devils also had a an appearance on the ESPN highlight mix, that was seen nationwide. The team then returned to a heroes welcome in Stanley.  The crowd had lined both sides of the highway as the team bus pulled into sight. The Super Bowl trophy once again found a home in Stanley.

On December 23rd, the Carolina Panthers invited the team for a NFL style press conference and behind the scenes tour of the stadium. Coach Rudisell accompanied by several players seat in the press room that is normally reserved for post game interviews. The Panthers were very hospitable and several kids came away with Panther autographs.

On January 4th, the Stanley Town Council with Mayor Chad Brown presiding, presented Coach Rudisill with a key to the town. All players received honorary certificates from the town. The team was then beckoned to the Gaston County courthouse for another recognition ceremony on January 11th. Chairman Mickey Price & John Torbitt presented the team with certificates for their season. After the meeting, the players received their Stanley Optimist Club trophies that resembled the team super bowl trophy.

Banquet

Congratulations to all our Football Teams & Cheer Squads for making 2009 a memorable season. It's hard to believe that the season has past so quickly since August. The PW & JPW football teams had an excellent regular season, while the JPW's won the 2009 Pop Warner Super Bowl in Disney World. The PW & JPW cheerleaders combined as one team at locals and completed a solid routine as a non-advancing squad. A new website debuted in August and so far has received over 4200 hits. A special thank you goes out to all the coaches for dedicating your free time helping the kids. We'd also like to thank all the team moms and parents that volunteered at practices & games.  Go Big Blue!

The Stanley Optimist Club's Football & Cheerleading  Banquet has been set for Saturday February 27, 2010. The location & time hasn't been determined but will be posted soon.
